The mouth that swallows me whole

The darkness of the night swallows me whole a gigantic mouth with tongue buds in the shape of stars and the gaps of teeth in the silhouette of willow branches.

As I sit under the palette, it whispers to me and I move and shift and try not to prop myself up as it says that I’m safe here with it. We can both exist together away from the sun.
